This Purchase Order is issued by Chiredzi University Research Institute to engage the services of a qualified Medical Researcher to conduct, coordinate, and deliver a comprehensive epidemiological study within the Zimbabwe Harare metropolitan area. The Medical Researcher shall be responsible for the full lifecycle of the research project, including but not limited to: designing the study protocol in compliance with the Zimbabwe National Research Ethics Committee (ZIMREC) guidelines; recruiting and managing a field research team of no fewer than six (6) data collectors across Harare's five (5) districts; conducting laboratory analysis of 1,200 blood samples at the National Malaria Reference Laboratory in Harare; compiling and submitting interim and final research reports; and presenting findings at the annual Zimbabwe Medical Research Conference held in Harare.
The Medical Researcher must hold a minimum of a Master's degree in Medical Sciences, Epidemiology, or a closely related discipline, and must possess at least five (5) years of documented post-qualification experience in clinical or field-based medical research conducted within Zimbabwe or the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. All research activities shall be conducted in accordance with the Zimbabwe Research Ethics Act (Chapter 15:17) and the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Harare.

4.1 Payment shall be made in three (3) instalments: (a) 40% upon execution of this Purchase Order and ZIMREC ethics approval; (b) 35% upon submission of the interim research report at the six-month mark; and (c) 25% upon delivery of the final report and acceptance by the Institute's Research Board in Harare.
4.2 All payments shall be remitted via electronic funds transfer (EFT) to the Medical Researcher's designated bank account at CBZ Bank, Harare Main Branch, Account No. 0045-7821-3390-12, within fourteen (14) calendar days of receipt of a valid tax invoice.
4.3 The Medical Researcher shall submit a detailed itemised invoice for each instalment, accompanied by supporting documentation including timesheets, expenditure receipts, and progress reports. Failure to provide complete documentation shall entitle the Institute to withhold payment until compliance is achieved.
4.4 All amounts stated in this Purchase Order are in United States Dollars (USD) and are subject to the prevailing exchange rate as determined by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe at the time of payment. The Medical Researcher shall be responsible for all applicable personal income tax obligations under the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) regulations.
5.1 The Medical Researcher shall commence fieldwork no later than 1 August 2025 and shall complete all research activities by 31 July 2026. All fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and data compilation shall be conducted within the Zimbabwe Harare metropolitan area unless prior written approval is obtained from the Institute for travel to other provinces.
5.2 The Institute shall have a period of twenty-one (21) calendar days to review and accept or reject each deliverable. Rejection must be communicated in writing with specific reasons for non-conformance. The Medical Researcher shall have fourteen (14) days to rectify any deficiencies at no additional cost to the Institute.
5.3 All research data, samples, and intellectual property generated under this Purchase Order shall be the sole property of Chiredzi University Research Institute. The Medical Researcher shall retain the right to publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, subject to prior review and approval by the Institute's Publications Committee in Harare.
6.1 The Medical Researcher warrants that all research activities shall comply with the laws of the Republic of Zimbabwe, including the Research Ethics Act, the National Health Act, the Data Protection Act (2021), and all applicable regulations of the Zimbabwe Medical and Dental Council (ZMDC).
6.2 The Medical Researcher shall maintain comprehensive professional indemnity insurance with a minimum cover of USD 250,000 for the duration of this Purchase Order and shall provide a certificate of insurance to the Institute prior to commencement of work.
6.3 The Medical Researcher shall ensure that all human subjects recruited in Harare provide informed written consent in accordance with ZIMREC protocols. The Institute shall not be held liable for any claims arising from the Medical Researcher's negligence, misconduct, or breach of ethical standards.
7.1 Either party may terminate this Purchase Order by providing thirty (30) days' written notice. In the event of termination for cause, the terminating party must provide a minimum of fourteen (14) days' notice with specific grounds for termination.
7.2 Any disputes arising from this Purchase Order shall first be subject to mediation under the Zimbabwe Mediation and Arbitration Centre in Harare. If mediation fails within sixty (60) days, the dispute shall be referred to the High Court of Zimbabwe, Harare, and the laws of Zimbabwe shall govern this Purchase Order.
