This Purchase Order authorises the engagement of a qualified Meteorologist to provide comprehensive atmospheric and weather forecasting services for the New Zealand Auckland region. The Meteorologist shall be responsible for delivering daily weather briefings, seasonal climate outlooks, severe weather alerts, and long-range climate trend analyses specifically tailored to the geographic, topographic, and climatic conditions of New Zealand Auckland. The services outlined in this Purchase Order are intended to support the Auckland Regional Infrastructure Authority in its planning, construction, and emergency management operations across the greater Auckland metropolitan area, including the Waitematā Harbour, the Hauraki Gulf, the Western Ranges, and the North Shore isthmus.

The Meteorologist engaged under this Purchase Order must hold a minimum of a Master's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science and must be a registered member of the New Zealand Meteorological Society. The Meteorologist shall have a demonstrated understanding of the unique microclimates present in New Zealand Auckland, including the rain shadow effects of the Western Ranges, the maritime influences of the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean, and the seasonal patterns of subtropical cyclones and frontal systems that affect the region. All forecasts and analyses produced under this Purchase Order must comply with the standards set by the New Zealand MetService (NIWA) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) where applicable.

  1. This Purchase Order is governed by the laws of New Zealand and shall be interpreted in accordance with the New Zealand Contract and Commercial Law Act 2014.
  2. The Meteorologist engaged under this Purchase Order shall maintain professional indemnity insurance with a minimum cover of NZD $5,000,000 and public liability insurance of NZD $10,000,000 for the duration of the contract.
  3. All meteorological data, forecasts, and reports produced under this Purchase Order for New Zealand Auckland shall be the intellectual property of the Auckland Regional Infrastructure Authority upon full payment.
  4. The Meteorologist shall comply with all applicable New Zealand privacy legislation, including the Privacy Act 2020, when handling any personal data collected during on-site consultations in New Zealand Auckland.
  5. Payment terms: Net 30 days from receipt of a valid tax invoice. Invoices shall reference this Purchase Order number (PO-AKL-MET-2025-0472) and be submitted to the accounts payable department in New Zealand Auckland.
  6. The Meteorologist shall provide a minimum of 48 hours' written notice for any scheduled absence. In the event of absence, a suitably qualified substitute Meteorologist with equivalent New Zealand Meteorological Society registration must be nominated and approved in writing by the Authority.
  7. This Purchase Order may be terminated by either party with 60 days' written notice. In the event of termination, the Meteorologist shall deliver all completed work product and raw data pertaining to New Zealand Auckland operations.
  8. Any disputes arising from this Purchase Order shall be resolved through mediation in New Zealand Auckland in accordance with the Disputes Resolution Act 2022 before proceeding to the District Court of Auckland.
