This Quotation Estimate is formally issued by Pacific Northwest Research & Consultancy Group Inc. to provide a comprehensive and itemized financial projection for the engagement of a qualified Academic Researcher to support the University of British Columbia's Department of Environmental Sciences in conducting a multi-phase field and laboratory research programme. All services described herein are to be delivered within the metropolitan area of Canada Vancouver, including the surrounding Lower Mainland research sites, coastal field stations, and institutional laboratories located in the Vancouver, British Columbia region.
This document serves as a binding financial proposal and does not constitute a final invoice. The Quotation Estimate is subject to the terms, conditions, and validity period outlined in Section 7 of this document. All monetary values are expressed in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and are inclusive of applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the current federal rate of 5%, as well as the British Columbia Provincial Sales Tax (PST) at 7%, unless otherwise specified.
The Academic Researcher engaged under this Quotation Estimate shall possess a minimum of a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of five (5) years of post-doctoral research experience. The researcher must be a legal resident or hold valid work authorization in Canada and must be available to work full-time within the Canada Vancouver metropolitan area for the duration of the project.
The scope of work for the Academic Researcher includes, but is not limited to: designing and executing experimental protocols; collecting, processing, and analysing environmental data from coastal and freshwater sites in the Vancouver region; authoring peer-reviewed manuscripts and technical reports; supervising up to four (4) graduate research assistants; presenting findings at regional and national academic conferences; and maintaining full compliance with the University of British Columbia's research ethics board (REB) guidelines and all applicable Canadian federal and provincial environmental regulations.

The Academic Researcher shall commence work on or before September 1, 2025, and the full engagement period shall conclude on August 31, 2026. All fieldwork activities within the Canada Vancouver coastal and freshwater environments will be scheduled to align with seasonal ecological cycles. The researcher will submit quarterly progress reports to the Department of Environmental Sciences and will present a final comprehensive research report, including all raw data, analytical outputs, and a minimum of two (2) peer-reviewed manuscript submissions, no later than October 31, 2026.
Payment for the services outlined in this Quotation Estimate shall be made in four (4) equal quarterly instalments of $68,969.38 CAD (taxes included), due on the first business day of each quarter: September 2025, December 2025, March 2026, and June 2026. Payments shall be remitted via electronic funds transfer (EFT) to the account designated by Pacific Northwest Research & Consultancy Group Inc. A late payment fee of 1.5% per month shall apply to any outstanding balance exceeding thirty (30) days from the due date, in accordance with standard commercial practice in Canada Vancouver.
Assumptions: This Quotation Estimate assumes that all necessary institutional approvals, research ethics board clearances, and site access permits within the Canada Vancouver region will be obtained by the client prior to the commencement of fieldwork. The Academic Researcher is expected to work a standard 37.5-hour week, Monday through Friday, with reasonable flexibility for fieldwork weekends during peak sampling periods.
Exclusions: This estimate does not include international travel, costs associated with patent filings, or any expenses arising from scope changes not explicitly authorized in writing by the client. Any additional services requested beyond the scope defined herein will be subject to a revised Quotation Estimate issued by our office.
7.1 Validity: This Quotation Estimate (No. QTE-2025-VAN-0472) is valid for a period of thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. After the expiry date of July 12, 2025, all rates and conditions are subject to revision without prior notice.
7.2 Acceptance: Acceptance of this Quotation Estimate shall be confirmed in writing by the authorized signatory of the University of British Columbia, Department of Environmental Sciences, and shall constitute a binding agreement between both parties.
7.3 Governing Law: This agreement and all services rendered under this Quotation Estimate shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable within the jurisdiction of Canada Vancouver.
7.4 Confidentiality: All data, findings, and proprietary information generated by the Academic Researcher during the course of this engagement shall remain the intellectual property of the client institution, subject to the researcher's right to publish peer-reviewed findings in accordance with UBC's open-access policy.
7.5 Termination: Either party may terminate the engagement with a written notice of sixty (60) days. In the event of early termination, the client shall be liable for all costs incurred up to the date of termination, as itemized in a final reconciliation statement.
7.6 Insurance and Liability: Pacific Northwest Research & Consultancy Group Inc. maintains comprehensive professional liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $5,000,000 CAD, valid throughout the Canada Vancouver metropolitan area and all associated fieldwork locations.
