This Quotation Estimate is issued by Beauchamp Astronomical Consulting Inc. to provide a comprehensive and itemized cost breakdown for the engagement of a professional Astronomer to deliver specialized research, observational, and advisory services to the Université de Montréal. This document serves as a formal Quotation Estimate outlining all deliverables, timelines, and associated fees for the proposed Astronomer engagement in Canada Montreal. All pricing is presented in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and is subject to the terms and conditions specified herein.

The Astronomer, Dr. Émile Beauchamp, will provide the following services as part of this engagement in Canada Montreal:

  • Stellar and Exoplanetary Observation Campaign: Conduct a minimum of 40 hours of telescope-based observation using the 3.6-metre telescope at the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic, located approximately 120 km from Montreal, Canada. The Astronomer will focus on characterizing transiting exoplanets in the Kepler-442 system and related targets.
  • Spectroscopic Analysis & Data Reduction: Perform high-resolution spectroscopic analysis of at least 15 target stars, including full data reduction pipelines, atmospheric correction, and publication-ready spectral line measurements.
  • Research Advisory & Mentorship: Provide bi-weekly advisory sessions (2 hours each) to a cohort of 8 graduate students in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the Université de Montréal, covering topics in observational astrophysics, cosmology, and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Grant Proposal Support: Assist the department in drafting and refining two (2) research grant proposals for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT).
  • Public Outreach & Science Communication: Deliver two (2) public lectures at the Planetarium Rio Tinto Alcan in Montreal, Canada, and one (1) community science workshop at a local secondary school in the Greater Montreal area.

This Quotation Estimate for Astronomer services in Canada Montreal shall be settled according to the following schedule:

  • 30% deposit ($19,678.05) due upon acceptance of this Quotation Estimate, no later than July 1, 2025.
  • 40% milestone payment ($26,237.40) due upon completion of the observation campaign and data reduction phase (end of October 2025).
  • 30% final payment ($19,678.05) due upon delivery of all final deliverables, including published manuscripts and outreach reports (end of January 2026).

All payments shall be made via electronic funds transfer (EFT) to the account of Beauchamp Astronomical Consulting Inc. at the Bank of Montreal, Montreal, Canada. Late payments shall incur interest at the rate of 1.5% per month as stipulated under the Quebec Civil Code.

  1. This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. After the expiry date, all rates and availability of the Astronomer are subject to re-evaluation.
  2. The Astronomer retains full intellectual property rights over all original research findings, data, and publications produced during the engagement. The client institution shall be granted a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the data for academic and educational purposes within Canada Montreal and internationally.
  3. Any changes to the scope of work beyond the parameters described in Section 2 shall require a written amendment to this Quotation Estimate, signed by both parties, before additional work commences.
  4. The Astronomer shall comply with all applicable Canadian federal and Quebec provincial regulations, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Loi sur la protection des renseignements personnels dans le secteur privé (Quebec).
  5. In the event of force majeure, including but not limited to severe weather conditions affecting telescope operations at Mont-Mégantic, the Astronomer shall notify the client within 48 hours and the affected timeline shall be extended proportionally.
  6. This Quotation Estimate does not constitute a binding contract until a formal Service Agreement is executed by both parties. The terms herein are intended solely as a good-faith estimate of costs and deliverables.
  7. Disputes arising from this Quotation Estimate or the subsequent engagement shall be resolved through mediation in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in accordance with the rules of the Chambre de commerce du Montréal métropolitain.

By signing below, the client acknowledges receipt of this Quotation Estimate for Astronomer services in Canada Montreal and agrees to the terms, conditions, and pricing outlined in this document. The Astronomer confirms availability and commitment to deliver the services as described.
