This Quotation Estimate has been prepared in accordance with the commercial terms applicable to corporate clients operating within the Tokyo metropolitan area and the broader Kanto region of Japan.

The following Quotation Estimate outlines the complete scope of services, associated costs, and contractual conditions for the supply of The Economist to your research division. All pricing is denominated in Japanese Yen (JPY) and is inclusive of applicable consumption tax (10%) as mandated by the National Tax Agency of Japan. This Quotation Estimate is specific to the Japan Tokyo market and reflects localised delivery, licensing, and support arrangements.

This Quotation Estimate covers the following components of The Economist subscription and licensing package, designed specifically for institutional use in Japan Tokyo:

  1. Digital Platform Access (The Economist.com & App): Unlimited concurrent user access to The Economist's full digital archive (dating back to 1843), weekly digital edition, daily news briefings, The Economist Podcasts+ service, and the Economist Impact data platform. Access is provisioned for up to 250 named users across your Tokyo headquarters and the Osaka satellite office.
  2. Print Delivery – Japan Tokyo: Weekly physical delivery of The Economist magazine (English-language edition) to your registered premises in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Delivery is scheduled every Thursday via our contracted logistics partner in the Tokyo metropolitan area. An additional 50 copies per week will be delivered to your Osaka office on the same cycle.
  3. Executive Briefing Service: A monthly customised economic briefing prepared by The Economist's Japan desk, delivered in both English and Japanese, covering macroeconomic indicators, trade policy developments, and sector-specific analysis relevant to the Japan Tokyo business environment.
  4. Event & Seminar Access: Priority registration for two (2) annual The Economist events held in Tokyo, Japan, including the Economist Japan Economic Forum and the Economist Asia-Pacific Trade Summit. This includes keynote access, networking sessions, and recorded content for internal distribution.

The total amount stated in this Quotation Estimate shall be payable in accordance with the following schedule: a 40% advance payment (JPY 2,846,184) is due within fourteen (14) calendar days of contract execution; the remaining 60% (JPY 4,269,276) shall be invoiced in two equal quarterly instalments (JPY 2,134,638 each), payable within thirty (30) days of invoice date. All payments shall be made via bank transfer to our designated account at Mizuho Bank, Tokyo Central Branch. Late payments shall attract interest at a rate of 1.5% per month as stipulated under the Japan Act on Special Provisions Concerning Delayed Payment of Compensation for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

  1. This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. Beyond this period, pricing is subject to revision based on exchange rate fluctuations (GBP/JPY) and changes in The Economist's global licensing fees.
  2. All services described herein are exclusive to the named entity and its registered offices in Japan Tokyo and Osaka. Redistribution, sublicensing, or sharing of The Economist digital content beyond the 250-user allocation is strictly prohibited under the licensing agreement.
  3. Print delivery within the Tokyo metropolitan area (23 special wards, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa prefectures) is included at no additional charge. Delivery to locations outside this zone will incur a supplementary logistics fee of JPY 1,200 per copy per delivery cycle.
  4. The Economist's editorial content is provided as-is. While we guarantee the accuracy of delivery and platform uptime (99.5% SLA), we do not warrant the accuracy of any economic forecasts or analyses published within The Economist.
  5. Either party may terminate the agreement with sixty (60) days' written notice. In the event of early termination by the client, a pro-rata refund of unused digital access fees will be issued, less a 15% administrative processing fee.
  6. This Quotation Estimate and the resulting contract shall be governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
  7. All personal data processed in connection with this service shall comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) of Japan.

By signing below, the client acknowledges receipt of this Quotation Estimate for The Economist services in Japan Tokyo and agrees to the terms, conditions, and pricing outlined herein. Upon countersignature by our authorised representative, this Quotation Estimate shall convert into a binding service agreement effective from the first day of the following calendar month.
