This Quotation Estimate outlines the professional services to be rendered by our senior Film Director, Mr. Jonathan R. Caldwell (ASC, DGA), for the full pre-production, principal photography, and post-production oversight of the aforementioned feature film. All services will be performed within the United States Los Angeles metropolitan area and its surrounding production corridors, in strict compliance with the California Film Commission guidelines, DGA Basic Agreement, and all applicable federal and state labor regulations.

The Film Director shall be responsible for the complete creative and technical realization of the screenplay, including but not limited to: casting direction, blocking and choreography of all principal and background actors, collaboration with the cinematographer on visual composition, on-set performance coaching, continuity supervision, and final creative approval of all dailies and the locked picture. The Film Director will maintain a dedicated production office at the United States Los Angeles base of operations and will be available for a minimum of fourteen (14) hours per shooting day, with additional hours compensated at the overtime rate specified in Section 5.

This Quotation Estimate assumes the following payment milestones, all payable within thirty (30) days of invoice issuance:

  • 25% Deposit ($294,568.41) — due upon execution of the master services agreement, prior to the commencement of pre-production.
  • 40% Progress Payment ($471,309.45) — due upon completion of principal photography (end of Week 12).
  • 35% Final Payment ($412,395.77) — due upon delivery of the final locked picture and the Film Director's written sign-off on the master edit.
  1. This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issuance. After the expiration date, all rates are subject to revision based on prevailing market conditions in the United States Los Angeles film production sector.
  2. All services will be rendered by the named Film Director or, in the event of documented illness or emergency, by a qualified substitute of equivalent standing approved in writing by the Client. No substitution shall occur without a minimum of seventy-two (72) hours' prior notice.
  3. Overtime beyond fourteen (14) hours per shooting day will be billed at 1.5× the daily rate. Work on weekends or federally recognized holidays will be billed at 2.0× the daily rate, in accordance with the DGA Basic Agreement applicable to United States Los Angeles productions.
  4. The Client is responsible for all union scale payments, residuals, health & pension contributions, workers' compensation insurance, and any permits required by the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, or the State of California for filming on public property.
  5. This estimate does not include costs for cast fees, crew wages (beyond the Film Director and his immediate assistant director), equipment rental, post-production sound mixing, color grading, or music licensing. These items will be quoted separately.
  6. Either party may terminate this engagement with thirty (30) days' written notice. In the event of early termination, the Client shall pay for all services rendered through the termination date plus a 10% cancellation fee on the remaining contract value.
  7. All intellectual property, including the Film Director's creative contributions, shot compositions, and directorial notes, shall be the sole property of the Client upon full payment, subject to the Film Director's right to credit as "Directed by" in all promotional materials.
  8. Governing law: This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising from this Quotation Estimate or the resulting services agreement shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Los Angeles, California, United States, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

By signing below, both parties acknowledge that this Quotation Estimate accurately reflects the scope, cost, and terms of the Film Director engagement for the production to be executed in United States Los Angeles. This document, once countersigned, shall serve as the binding basis for the subsequent Master Services Agreement.
