This Quotation Estimate is issued by Thames Basin Geological Consultancy Ltd. in response to the formal request submitted by Meridian Development Group PLC for the engagement of a qualified Geologist to undertake a comprehensive geological and geotechnical assessment of the proposed development site at 48 Aldgate High Street, City of London, United Kingdom. This document sets out in full the scope of professional services to be delivered, the associated costs, the programme of works, and the terms and conditions governing the engagement. All services described herein will be performed in strict accordance with the standards of the Geological Society of London and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) as applicable within the United Kingdom.
The appointed Geologist will deliver the following professional services across the project lifecycle in United Kingdom London:
2.1 Desktop Geological Study and Literature Review
A thorough review of all available British Geological Survey (BGS) data, including 1:50,000 and 1:10,000 scale geological maps, borehole records, and historical mining data relevant to the Aldgate area. The Geologist will assess the presence of London Clay, Lambeth Group sand and gravel, and any potential contamination from former industrial land use. This phase will produce a written Desktop Study Report of no fewer than 25 pages.
2.2 Site Investigation and Fieldwork
The Geologist will supervise and participate in on-site field investigations, including the interpretation of trial pit excavations, the review of borehole logs, and the identification of in-situ geological conditions. Fieldwork will be conducted in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and all relevant United Kingdom regulatory requirements. A minimum of three (3) trial pits and two (2) rotary boreholes to a depth of 15 metres below ground level are included in this Quotation Estimate.
2.3 Laboratory Sample Analysis and Interpretation
Geological sample descriptions, classification, and interpretation in accordance with BS EN ISO 14688. The Geologist will prepare lithological descriptions, assess groundwater conditions, and identify any engineering-geological hazards including compressible soils, expansive clays, or soluble strata.
2.4 Final Geological Report and Recommendations
A comprehensive Final Geological Report will be produced, providing foundation recommendations, ground condition risk assessments, and guidance for the structural and civil engineering teams. The report will be formatted in accordance with the ICE Ground Investigation Guidelines (2017) and will be suitable for submission to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets planning authority as part of the planning application in United Kingdom London.
2.5 Site Visits and Client Liaison
The Geologist will attend a minimum of four (4) site visits during the investigation phase and will provide two (2) formal progress meetings with the client's project team. All site visits will be conducted within the London metropolitan area, United Kingdom.

The total duration for completion of all Geologist services under this Quotation Estimate is estimated at eight (8) working weeks from the date of contract execution. The Desktop Study will be completed within the first two weeks, fieldwork will be conducted in weeks three and four, laboratory interpretation in weeks five and six, and the Final Report will be delivered by the end of week eight. All work will be scheduled to avoid disruption to neighbouring properties in the dense urban environment of United Kingdom London.
- This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. After this period, all rates and charges are subject to revision.
- Payment terms: 30% upon acceptance of this Quotation Estimate, 40% upon completion of fieldwork, and 30% upon delivery of the Final Geological Report. All payments are due within fourteen (14) days of invoice date.
- The Geologist shall maintain professional indemnity insurance of no less than £5,000,000 per claim throughout the duration of the engagement.
- All work shall be carried out in compliance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Water Resources Act 1991, and all applicable United Kingdom and London-specific environmental regulations.
- Any variation to the scope of works must be agreed in writing by both parties prior to commencement. Additional Geologist services beyond the scope defined in this document will be charged at a daily rate of £1,150.00 plus expenses.
- Intellectual property in all reports and deliverables shall vest in the client upon full payment. The Geologist retains the right to use anonymised data for academic and professional development purposes.
- This engagement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved by arbitration in London, United Kingdom, in accordance with the rules of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA).
- The Geologist reserves the right to decline or withdraw from any aspect of the work if conditions are encountered that pose an unacceptable risk to health and safety, in which case a revised Quotation Estimate will be issued.
By signing below, the client confirms acceptance of this Quotation Estimate and authorises Thames Basin Geological Consultancy Ltd. to proceed with the engagement of the Geologist for the services described herein at the site in United Kingdom London. This signature constitutes a binding agreement between both parties subject to the terms and conditions set out in Section 5.
