This Quotation Estimate has been prepared by Blackfriars Legal Chambers LLP, a regulated law firm practising in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in response to the written request received from Mr. Jonathan R. Whitfield on 28 May 2025. The purpose of this document is to provide a comprehensive, itemised, and transparent breakdown of the professional fees, disbursements, and associated costs that our Lawyer team will incur in representing the Client in the matter described below. This Quotation Estimate is issued in accordance with the Solicitors' Regulation Authority (SRA) Transparency of Legal Services for Business Clients Rules 2019 and the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012.
The Lawyer assigned to this matter will be Ms. Eleanor C. Hartley, a Senior Partner with over twenty-two years of experience in commercial litigation and contract enforcement, practising exclusively within the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom Birmingham courts, including the Birmingham County Court, the Birmingham Civil Justice Centre, and the High Court (Birmingham District Registry).
The Client has instructed the firm to act as their Lawyer in a commercial dispute concerning a breach of a supply agreement dated 14 March 2024 between the Client and a third-party supplier operating within the West Midlands region. The scope of work covered by this Quotation Estimate includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Initial case assessment, file review, and preparation of a written legal opinion on the merits of the claim;
- Drafting and service of a formal Letter Before Action (LBA) in accordance with the Pre-Action Protocol for Commercial Disputes;
- Preparation of a Particulars of Claim and all supporting schedules for filing at the Birmingham Civil Justice Centre;
- Attendance at the Case Management Conference (CMC) and any subsequent hearings before a District Judge or Circuit Judge in Birmingham;
- Conduct of all written and oral witness examinations, including the preparation of witness statements;
- Preparation of a skeleton argument and full written submissions for the final hearing;
- Post-judgment enforcement proceedings, should the matter proceed to that stage;
- General correspondence, telephone consultations, and email communications with the Client throughout the duration of the matter.
The following Quotation Estimate sets out the anticipated professional fees and disbursements. All fees are quoted in British Pounds Sterling (GBP) and are exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) at the prevailing rate of 20%, which will be added to the final invoice. The Lawyer team will provide monthly account statements in line with the firm's standard billing cycle.

- This Quotation Estimate is a good-faith estimate of the total costs likely to be incurred. The final invoice may vary by up to 15% above or below the figures stated herein, depending on the complexity and duration of the proceedings in the United Kingdom Birmingham courts.
- The Lawyer and the firm reserve the right to amend this Quotation Estimate in writing should the scope of work change materially, in which case a revised Quotation Estimate will be issued for the Client's written approval before any additional work commences.
- All professional fees are payable within 28 days of the date of the monthly account statement. Late payments may attract interest at the rate of 4% above the Bank of England base rate, as permitted under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
- This Quotation Estimate does not include the costs of any expert witnesses, court-appointed translators, or third-party investigators, which will be billed at cost with prior written consent from the Client.
- The Lawyer will provide the Client with a written progress report at each significant stage of the proceedings, including after the CMC and prior to the final hearing.
- This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. If the Client does not accept the terms within this period, the firm reserves the right to reissue the Quotation Estimate at updated rates.
- All services will be performed in accordance with the SRA Standards and Regulations 2019, the firm's Terms of Business, and the applicable rules of the United Kingdom Birmingham courts.
- Disputes arising from this Quotation Estimate or the engagement of the Lawyer shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, with the Birmingham District Registry as the primary venue.
By signing below, the Client acknowledges receipt of this Quotation Estimate, confirms that the scope of work described herein is understood and agreed, and authorises the Lawyer and Blackfriars Legal Chambers LLP to commence the legal proceedings in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in accordance with the terms set out in this document.
