Lixue's family is still alive and well, they just aren't in contact. (I drew them omitting their respective veils and scarfs b/c Wizzrobe. Ya'll know I like drawing pretty people haha.)
After Liu died and Lixue had no children to keep their marriage... Legitimate, I guess, she basically caused a rift between her family & Liu's, when their marriage had been for convenience sake. Her father pretends she never existed, and her mother acts indifferent even though it pains her that her only child is no longer with them.
Aunt Yaling gets ticked off about the situation regularly, but since she really doesn't have any say in their main branch only household she just seethes in silence. She was close to Lixue for a long time, so it stings that her niece is no longer around.
Not pictured; Shufen and Yi have a young son now that Lixue isn't around anymore. The poor child is probably oblivious to his elder sister's existence, just as she is to his.
