- On January 6th, 2021, Twitch announced via Twitter that they would be removing the iconic emote "PogChamp" from the site following controversial statements from the face of the emote, surrounding the Capitol Hill attack that took place the same day, as well as spreading misinformation surrounding Covid-19 and it's vaccines.
- Because of the notoriety of the emote being the 5th most used on the platform, a replacement was needed, so on January 8th, Twitch announced they would be taking a suggestion from Twitter user @day9tv, to refresh PogChamp with a different emote from various Twitch streamers every 24 hours. - On February 12th, 2021, Twitch announced the new permanent PogChamp replacement to be a clone of the existing emote, KomodoHype, as part of a livestream made by the platform deciding between it and the 2nd Creator PogChamp, depicting streamer UmiNoKaiju
