He's never quite felt right in his body; the mask of femininity he wore never quite fit. He could wear dresses and wear his hair long but it never ceased to bother him. He spent his childhood and many of his teen years as a Princess, but transitioned at seventeen.
Since Caduceus is a matriarchy, there is much controversy on whether he is eligible for the crown or not. His younger sister, Ohanja, refuses to stand in his place; claiming that no matter his gender, he has the right to rule. Her intention is not harmful but Azura cannot help but feel helpless over the situation.
Many refuse to acknowledge his gender, and despite appearing as male; most times he is still referred to as female and introduced as Princess Azura.
