Summary:

"

Have you ever happened to overhear a conversation
between two customers at your local pub, that revealed to you the secret
to wealth extraordinaire? Well, that doesn't mean the penniless lowlife
and the unlikely protagonist of a forthcoming adventure extravaganza,
mr. Doug Gimbrone, wouldn't have - why, that's just what he did! And now
it's up to you to guide him to the very foundation of the secret of the
local asylum - a task less simple than it might appear..."

What the devs said about the game:

"the game would start with the protagonist, Doug, sitting at the pub, accidentally overhearing a discussion in the next table. Apparently the other person had won the lottery, and was revealing his secret. There was a certain lunatic in the local asylum who'd inexplicably mumble a series of numbers in his sleep. Working at the asylum, the man next table had overheard this and noticed they always matched the winning numbers at the week's lottery draw. Doug, having heard this, would immediately start the first part of the game by gathering items needed for infiltrating the asylum (and this part would've taken place in the town seen in the demo - a final total of 9 screens, I believe). The second part of the game would take place in the asylum. Doug would muck up the infiltration, be caught and deemed a mental case trying to escape the asylum. The goal would be to find out the secret of the lottery lunatic, and then escape the asylum. The asylum's inhabitants would've been styled as caricatures a la One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Next. We also figured Doug should have an antagonist, and that this would be Friz (sitting in the bar at the demo) who would've also overheard the introductionary discussion, then racing Doug for the money."

"I think there may have been some secret government mind control project involved or something..."
