Charmanders have become a major problem in the Kanto region. Being abandoned by their disappointed young trainers, they started forming packs and lay eggs in the wild. This causes major problems. It is not only that Charmanders compete for food, space and air with regional species. Because those little orange salamanders are evil, they also cause terrible forest fires! Most Charmanders naturally die from snow, rain and starvation in the fall and winter months, or are killed by hungry predators. But there is still a massive overpopulation, given that even one single Charmander toddling curiously through the Kanto forest, is one Charmander too much.

This makes them fair game for hunters and farmers. While most Charmander traps have to be reinstalled after killing a Charmander, there are also permanent traps like this one. This type of trap only needs to be emptied once a week. If too many Charmanders fall in the pit, the farmers have to douse the Charmanders laying at the top of their dead fellas by hand. Nevertheless this trap proved very useful considering the growing Charmander populations, that can not be encountered with classic traps anymore.
