I had a correspondence with poet Ed Galing starting in 1997, until his death in 2013. He would call me from his home in Hatsboro, PA. about once a week. Galing, whose half brother was Ben Galing, a radio personality in the Boston area, was widely published. He often wrote about his youth in the lower east side of NYC. He gave me great insight to Jewish culture, society, etc... at this time. I was particularly fascinated because I had just finished my Master's thesis at Harvard that dealt with the writer Henry Roth, who also wrote about the Jewish experience during the early part of last century.
