Scrapbook/photo album created by the San Jose Exchange Club to document their 1950 Toys for Joy drive in partnership with the San Jose Fire Department. 20,000 used toys were collected from the public, of which 10,000 were distributed to underprivileged children in the community as holiday presents. Victor F. Solari was General Chairman of the event.
According to the scrapbook, firemen at 8 fire stations painted and repaired toys received and distributed them to needy children before Christmas. Most of the toys were delivered to homes; the others were delivered to organizations sponsoring Christmas parties exclusively for needy children. Captain John Knapp was Chairman of the Firemen Committees.
