Abstract

As Southeast Asia continues to expand its aviation connectivity, the capital city of Yangon stands at a critical juncture. Historically focused on civil infrastructure and textiles, Myanmar’s industrial base is now pivoting toward high-tech engineering sectors. This paper analyzes the current educational initiatives for training Aerospace Engineers within Myanmar Yangon, the regulatory frameworks established by local aviation authorities, and the potential economic impacts of establishing a robust aerospace manufacturing and maintenance hub. The study argues that while challenges in infrastructure and international collaboration exist, strategic investments in human capital in Myanmar Yangon could position the region as a competitive player in the broader Asian aerospace supply chain.

The global aerospace industry is characterized by rapid technological advancement, stringent safety regulations, and complex supply chains. For developing nations in Southeast Asia, entering this sector requires a meticulous balance between importing expertise and cultivating local talent. The expansion of air travel demand has necessitated upgrades to airport infrastructure and an increase in flight frequencies. Local technicians often handle basic ground support and routine maintenance, while specialized structural repairs, avionics diagnostics, and propulsion system analyses are outsourced.
