Abstract

As the capital city grapples with rapid urbanization, seismic vulnerability, and heritage conservation challenges, the traditional role of the Architect has undergone a profound transformation. This article argues that in Nepal Kathmandu, Architects must evolve from mere aesthetic designers to multifaceted stakeholders integrating structural resilience, cultural continuity, and community participation. By analyzing post-disaster reconstruction efforts in Nepal Kathmandu through case studies of Newari heritage sites and modern housing projects, this paper highlights the critical necessity for Architects to adopt hybrid design philosophies. These approaches must balance indigenous seismic-resistant techniques with modern engineering standards. The findings suggest that the future viability of Nepal Kathmandu depends heavily on how Architects navigate the tension between globalization and local identity, ensuring that urban growth does not come at the cost of social cohesion or safety.
