Abstract

The findings suggest that professionalizing the electrician trade is essential for sustainable urban development, disaster resilience, and economic efficiency in Colombia.

The profession of the electrician has evolved significantly from a craft-based occupation to a highly regulated technical discipline. In Colombia, this evolution is particularly evident when observing the infrastructural boom in major urban centers such as Bogotá, Cali, and most notably, Medellín. Located in the Aburrá Valley in central Antioquia, Medellín presents a unique case study for understanding the demands placed on electrical infrastructure professionals.
