The findings suggest that professionalizing the trade and integrating renewable microgrid expertise into standard electrician curricula are essential steps for stabilizing the local power infrastructure.


Venezuela, particularly its capital city Caracas, has experienced a profound disruption in its electrical supply chain over the past decade. Once regarded as having one of the most affordable and reliable electricity systems in Latin America due to abundant hydroelectric resources from the Guri Dam, the country now faces frequent blackouts and voltage fluctuations. In this context, the figure of the Electrician has emerged as a pivotal actor in daily life. However, academic literature often overlooks the specific adaptations these professionals must make in crisis scenarios.

The scope of this article is to define the expanded responsibilities of the Electrician operating within Venezuela Caracas. It posits that due to state grid instability, private individuals and small businesses are increasingly reliant on independent electrical solutions. Consequently, the electrician must possess skills in solar photovoltaic (PV) system design, battery storage management, and backup generator maintenance. This shift represents a decentralization of energy responsibility, placing the burden of reliability directly on the technical expertise of local tradespeople.
