Abstract

As part of Vision 2030 initiatives aimed at diversifying the economy and enhancing service sector efficiency, this study explores how traditional automotive repair methods are being integrated with modern technological solutions. The paper highlights the unique environmental factors in Jeddah that influence vehicle maintenance needs, analyzes the economic impact of local mechanic workshops, and discusses policy recommendations for standardizing quality control across the region.
Saudi Arabia Jeddah stands as a critical economic hub on the Red Sea coast, serving not only as a major commercial port but also as the gateway for millions of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims annually. This high volume of transit, combined with a rapidly growing local population, has created an unprecedented demand for reliable vehicle maintenance services. In this context, the role of the mechanic extends beyond simple repair; it becomes a vital component of public safety, economic stability, and logistical efficiency.
The automotive sector in Saudi Arabia is one of the largest in the Middle East. However, as vehicles become increasingly complex with advanced electronics and hybrid technologies, the skill set required by a modern mechanic must evolve accordingly. This article argues that for Saudi Arabia Jeddah to maintain its status as a premier logistical hub, there must be a concerted effort to professionalize the mechanic industry through education, regulation, and technological adoption.
