<em>Objective</em></strong> This study examines the current landscape of physiotherapy practice within the public health infrastructure of Lima, Peru. Furthermore, the unique socio-economic stratification in Peru Lima creates distinct epidemiological profiles requiring specialized therapeutic approaches.

<em>Conclusion</em></strong> The role of the Physiotherapist in Peru Lima is critical yet under-supported. Policy recommendations include strengthening regulatory frameworks, increasing investment in rehabilitation infrastructure, and promoting academic collaboration to standardize care quality.

Within this context, physiotherapy has emerged as a cornerstone of modern healthcare systems. However, the implementation and acceptance of these services vary significantly across different geographic and socio-economic contexts. In South America, Peru represents a unique case study due to its rapid urbanization and complex health disparities. Specifically, in the capital city of Peru Lima, the concentration of population density has placed immense pressure on existing healthcare facilities.

The term "Physiotherapist" refers to a licensed healthcare professional who assesses, diagnoses, treats, and works to prevent disease processes that reduce or delay people’s ability to move and perform daily activities. In the context of Peru Lima, where public hospitals often operate beyond capacity, the role of the Physiotherapist extends beyond clinical intervention into advocacy for patient rights and efficient resource management. This article aims to explore how Physiotherapist professionals navigate these challenges within the specific socio-cultural and economic framework of Peru Lima.

The relevance of this study is underscored by the rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Peru, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders. These conditions often require long-term rehabilitation strategies where physiotherapy plays a pivotal role. Despite this need, the integration of physiotherapy into primary care networks in Peru Lima remains fragmented. This paper seeks to bridge the gap between academic understanding and practical application by highlighting the lived experiences of Physiotherapist professionals on the front lines.

This study adopted a phenomenological research design, focusing on the subjective experiences of healthcare workers. The population consisted of licensed Physiotherapist practitioners currently working in public healthcare institutions in Peru Lima. Participants were selected through purposive sampling to ensure representation across different types of facilities, including general hospitals, specialized orthopedic centers, and community health posts.

Data collection occurred over a six-month period from January to June 2023. Semi-structured interviews were conducted in Spanish and transcribed verbatim. Furthermore, academic institutions in Peru Lima must collaborate more closely with health ministries to tailor curricula that address local needs.
