Abstract

The rapid urbanization and industrial expansion in major metropolitan hubs have significantly altered the landscape of manual labor, particularly within the construction and manufacturing sectors. This study focuses specifically on the role of a Welder within the unique socio-economic and environmental context of India New Delhi. As India aims to achieve significant infrastructural milestones under initiatives such as "Make in India," the demand for skilled welders has surged. However, this surge is accompanied by critical challenges regarding occupational safety, technological adaptation, and health hazards specific to the dense urban environment of New Delhi. This paper analyzes the current working conditions of a Welder in India New Delhi, examining exposure to airborne particulate matter exacerbated by regional pollution levels, the adoption of modern welding techniques versus traditional methods, and the efficacy of existing regulatory frameworks. The findings suggest that while technological integration is improving efficiency, it has not yet mitigated health risks for the majority of welders. We propose a comprehensive framework for policy intervention tailored specifically to India New Delhi’s industrial zones to ensure sustainable labor practices and enhanced worker safety.
