This paper analyzes current challenges such as rapid urbanization, inadequate drainage systems leading to seasonal flooding in low-lying areas of Abuja, soil erosion in the hilly terrains surrounding the city center, and the integration of modern sustainable materials. Furthermore, it explores how Nigeria Abuja serves as a unique laboratory for testing innovative engineering solutions due to its centralized planning authority and diverse topographical challenges. The study concludes that for Nigeria Abuja to achieve its vision of a smart and sustainable capital, Civil Engineers must adopt advanced digital modeling techniques, prioritize eco-friendly construction practices, and collaborate closely with urban planners.
