Doctor General Practitioner. This rotation was conducted specifically within the complex medical landscape of Afghanistan Kabul, under the supervision of local senior physicians at a primary care center in the Karte-e-Char district. The primary objective of this internship was to bridge theoretical medical knowledge with practical application while navigating the unique epidemiological, logistical, and cultural challenges inherent to practicing medicine in a post-conflict urban environment. Through rigorous daily patient interactions, diagnostic procedures, and community health outreach, I gained profound insights into adaptive clinical reasoning and resource-efficient healthcare delivery. The decision to undertake an internship in Afghanistan Kabul was driven by a desire to understand healthcare systems operating under severe resource constraints. Unlike the highly specialized environments of Western medical centers, the role of a Doctor General Practitioner in this region requires versatility. Patients presenting at primary care facilities often suffer from multiple comorbidities simultaneously, ranging from infectious diseases to chronic non-communicable conditions, without prior specialist intervention. The city of Kabul presents a unique dichotomy. While it is the economic and cultural hub of the country, its healthcare infrastructure has been significantly damaged by decades of instability. Consequently, the Doctor General Practitioner acts as both a diagnostician and a triage officer, often being the first and only point of contact for vulnerable populations in Afghanistan Kabul.

Based on my experience in Afghanistan Kabul, I recommend that future medical interns focus heavily on developing skills in infectious disease control and basic diagnostic techniques without advanced technology. Furthermore, institutions should encourage pre-departure training on cultural humility and emergency preparedness to better support interns working in fragile contexts.
