This environment provided an ideal backdrop to understand how software engineering principles are applied in diverse cultural and business contexts.

Siam Digital Solutions is a mid-sized software development firm specializing in fintech applications, e-commerce platforms, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Located in the Sukhumvit district of Thailand Bangkok, the company serves clients ranging from local Thai startups to international corporations looking to expand their footprint in Southeast Asia.

The office culture is vibrant and multicultural. The team consists of developers from various backgrounds, including Japan, South Korea, China, and Europe, working alongside local Thai engineers. This diversity was instrumental in shaping my perspective as a Software Engineer, highlighting the importance of cross-cultural communication in global software projects.

During my tenure as an intern Software Engineer, I was integrated into the Backend Development Team. My responsibilities evolved from simple bug fixes to contributing significantly to core module development. Below are the key areas of focus:

• Backend Development using Java and Spring Boot: I worked extensively with Java 17 and Spring Boot REST APIs. A major task involved optimizing database queries for a customer loyalty program, which required deep understanding of Hibernate and MySQL performance tuning.
• API Integration:The team was tasked with integrating local Thai payment gateways (such as PromptPay) into our e-commerce platform. This required strict adherence to security protocols and handling asynchronous transactions, providing valuable insight into regional financial technologies in Thailand Bangkok.
• Cloud Infrastructure Management: We utilized AWS for deployment. I assisted in setting up CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Docker containers. This experience demystified DevOps practices and showed how scalable architecture is managed in real-world scenarios.
• Agile Methodology Participation:Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives were conducted via Microsoft Teams. I learned to write user stories that were clear and concise, ensuring that the development team understood the requirements from both a technical and business perspective.

One of the most significant challenges I faced as a Software Engineer was dealing with legacy code within a rapidly modernizing framework. The company had an older monolithic application that needed to be migrated to microservices. This process was complex due to tight coupling between modules.

To address this, I collaborated with senior engineers to implement the "Strangler Fig" pattern, gradually replacing specific functionalities of the monolith with new microservices without interrupting service. This required rigorous testing and careful data migration strategies. The success of this initiative not only improved system scalability but also reduced server costs by 15%.

It has equipped me with robust technical skills in backend development, cloud computing, and agile methodologies. More importantly, it has broadened my horizons regarding global software engineering practices and cross-cultural collaboration.
