- The journalist retains full copyright ownership of all original reporting, interviews, photographs, and written materials produced under this engagement. The client is granted a non-exclusive, perpetual license to publish the final deliverables in the agreed-upon format. Any republication, syndication, or derivative use beyond the initial publication requires a separate written agreement and additional compensation.
- All source materials, confidential informant identities, and unpublished notes obtained during the course of this journalistic engagement are protected under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and the Illinois Shield Law (735 ILCS 5/8-922). The journalist is under no obligation to disclose such materials to any third party, including the client, without the explicit written consent of the source.
- Payment is due within thirty (30) calendar days of the issue date. This invoice is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and any disputes arising from this invoice or the services rendered shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Chicago, Illinois, United States.
- The journalist confirms that all services were performed independently and that no conflict of interest exists with any municipal body, political entity, or commercial enterprise in the Chicago metropolitan area during the period of this engagement.
- This invoice constitutes a final accounting for all journalist services rendered between May 1, 2025, and June 11, 2025. No additional charges will be incurred for the scope of work described above.
