For the modern architect practicing in this environment, there is an urgent need to move beyond purely functionalist approaches towards holistic design strategies that address environmental degradation and social fragmentation.
Climatic Challenges: Myanmar Yangon experiences a tropical monsoon climate characterized by intense heat, high humidity, and significant seasonal rainfall. These conditions pose severe challenges for building durability and occupant comfort. Traditional cooling methods are becoming increasingly inefficient due to rising ambient temperatures caused by the urban heat island effect prevalent in many parts of Myanmar Yangon. Consequently, architects must innovate to reduce energy consumption while maintaining habitable indoor environments.
Socio-Cultural Fabric: Beyond physical challenges, the social context of Myanmar Yangon is complex.
