This presentation highlights ongoing longitudinal studies conducted by our team at major biological institutes within Myanmar Yangon.

Objective:

To present empirical data regarding water quality impacts on aquatic macroinvertebrates in the Yangon River and its tributaries, demonstrating how biological indicators can serve as early warning systems for ecological degradation.

Study Area:

Data was collected over a 24-month period across five distinct sites in the Greater Yangon Region, Myanmar Yangon. These sites ranged from heavily industrialized zones near Thilawa Port to protected mangrove forests in the coastal peripheries of Myanmar Yangon.
