This is critical for mitigating the flash floods that frequently paralyze Accra during peak rainfall.
  3. Community-Centric Design: Civil engineering must be participatory. Engaging local communities in the maintenance of infrastructure ensures longevity. For instance, designing drainage systems that are easy to clean and maintain by local municipalities reduces long-term operational costs.

6. Case Study: The Coastal Highway Rehabilitation

A pilot project was conducted along a 5km stretch of the coastal highway.
