In recent years, Tashkent has emerged not only as a political hub but as a burgeoning center for Information Technology (IT) and software development in Central Asia. The government’s strategic initiatives to create "Digital Uzbekistan" have necessitated a new breed of engineer—one who is proficient in hardware-software integration, cybersecurity protocols, and scalable cloud architectures. This document serves as an academic poster presentation summary of our research into how computer engineering education and professional practice in Tashkent can be optimized to meet global standards while addressing local challenges.

The primary objective of this study is to analyze the current state of computer engineering infrastructure in Tashkent and propose a framework for future development. We utilized a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative interviews.

  • Data Collection: We analyzed employment data from 50 major tech companies operating within the Tashkent Innovation Center and the Tashkent State University of Electronics.
  • Surveys: Over 300 computer engineering students and junior professionals were surveyed regarding their skill sets, curriculum relevance, and career aspirations.

As Tashkent digitizes its banking, healthcare, and governmental records, cybersecurity becomes paramount. Our findings reveal that 65% of local firms lack dedicated security engineering teams. The role of the computer engineer in Uzbekistan must evolve to include robust security-by-design principles. This poster highlights the need for specialized curricula in Tashkent’s technical universities that integrate network defense mechanisms directly into hardware design processes.

C. Infrastructure Constraints and Cloud Adoption

While Tashkent boasts modern fiber-optic infrastructure in business districts, rural-urban connectivity issues persist. Computer engineers working in the region must be adept at optimizing code for low-bandwidth environments. Our study shows that software solutions developed purely for Western markets often fail when deployed in Tashkent’s diverse network conditions without localization by local engineering teams.

To sustain the momentum of digital growth in Uzbekistan, we propose a three-pronged strategy for stakeholders in Tashkent:

  1. Educational Reform: Universities in Tashkent must update their computer engineering syllabi to include hands-on training with IoT prototyping boards, FPGA programming, and ethical hacking. Theoretical knowledge alone is insufficient for the modern demands of the local market.
  2. Public-Private Partnerships: We recommend establishing joint laboratories between Tashkent-based tech giants (such as Uztelecom and Humo) and academic institutions. This will allow computer engineers in training to work on real-world projects, such as optimizing the "My.Humo" application or smart metering systems.
  3. International Collaboration: Tashkent should position itself as a regional hub for engineering talent by fostering exchange programs with leading technical universities in Europe and Asia. This will help local engineers adopt best practices while bringing international investment to the Uzbek tech sector.

The trajectory of Uzbekistan’s digital future is inextricably linked to the capacity of its computer engineering workforce. Tashkent, with its dynamic demographic and strategic location, stands at a pivotal juncture. This poster presentation has demonstrated that while the foundation for growth is strong, significant investments in specialized engineering education and infrastructure are required.

The modern Computer Engineer in Tashkent is not merely a code writer but an architect of society’s digital skeleton. By addressing the identified gaps in IoT, cybersecurity, and infrastructure optimization, Uzbekistan can transform Tashkent into one of Central Asia’s most resilient and innovative tech hubs. The time for action is now; the blueprint is clear.
