The findings suggest that reviving these techniques not only preserves cultural identity but also offers cost-effective, environmentally sustainable solutions for urban expansion in Southeast Asia.

The rapid urbanization of the 21st century has presented unprecedented challenges to city planners, particularly in megacities like Thailand, Bangkok. As one of the most visited cities in the world and a critical economic hub in Southeast Asia, Bangkok stands at a crossroads. The city is characterized by its unique geography—situated on soft clay near the Chao Phraya River—which makes it susceptible to subsidence and flooding. In this context, the role of traditional construction materials and methods becomes paramount.

This presentation focuses on "Mason" as a pivotal element in this discourse. Historically, Masons have been the custodians of architectural integrity in Thailand, utilizing local materials such as brick, stone, and laterite to construct temples (*wats*), palaces, and residential structures that have withstood centuries of environmental stress. However, modern construction often relies heavily on concrete and steel, which carry high carbon footprints and lack the breathability required for tropical climates. This poster aims to bridge the gap by demonstrating how Mason techniques can be adapted for modern use in Thailand, Bangkok.
