The city is home to major industrial zones such as Jorf Lasfar and the Tangier-Kenitra-Casablanca axis, creating a massive demand for reliable automotive maintenance. However, the informal sector remains significant. Our study aims to bridge the gap between unregulated repair shops and certified technical centers, proposing a framework that enhances professional credibility while maintaining affordability for local citizens.

The Skills Gap in Rapidly Urbanizing Zones

The rapid modernization of vehicle fleets in Morocco Casablanca, driven by the influx of European used cars and local production, has outpaced the traditional training methods available to many mechanics. There is a distinct disconnect between the diagnostic capabilities required for modern hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs) and the current skill set of many independent workshop owners. This poster addresses three core challenges:

• Lack of Standardization: Inconsistent quality control across informal workshops.
• Educational Lag: Vocational training centers not updating curricula fast enough to match OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) technologies.
• Safety and Environmental Concerns:The need for better waste management in oil and battery disposal within dense urban areas of Casablanca.

Data Collection and Field Analysis

To understand the current state of the mechanic profession in this region, we employed a mixed-methods approach. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 150 independent garage owners across key districts including Derb Sultan and Ain Diab. Furthermore, we collaborated with local vocational schools (OFPPT) to assess curriculum effectiveness. The data highlights a strong willingness among younger mechanics in Morocco Casablanca to adopt new technologies, provided that accessible training pathways exist.

Digital Transformation and Trust

The study reveals that the concept of a modern Mechanic in Casablanca is shifting from "parts changer" to "diagnostic consultant." Customers are increasingly seeking transparency. Digital tools, such as OBD-II scanners and mobile appointment platforms, are becoming differentiators for success. However, access to these tools remains skewed toward larger dealerships.

We identified a unique cultural dynamic in the Moroccan service sector: trust is built on personal relationships rather than just technical proficiency. Therefore, any initiative to modernize the workforce must also focus on "soft skills" and customer communication training alongside hard technical skills.
