In Germany, particularly in a dynamic metropolis like Munich, the traditional role of the pharmacist is undergoing significant transformation. This poster presents findings from a mixed-methods study conducted across 50 pharmacies in Munich, examining how pharmacists are integrating into primary care networks. However, the practical application of pharmaceutical expertise at the community level has historically been limited by strict regulations. In Germany, pharmacists are highly educated healthcare professionals, yet their scope of practice often remains confined to product dispensing and technical quality assurance compared to their counterparts in Northern Europe or North America. Munich, as one of Germany's most economically robust and densely populated cities, presents a unique case study. It faces specific challenges, including high patient volumes in local GP practices ("Hausarztpraxen") and a rapidly aging population requiring polypharmacy management. This study aims to document the current state of pharmacist-led initiatives in Munich and explore pathways for systemic expansion of their role within the broader German healthcare framework.

A mixed-methods approach was employed between January 2023 and December 2023.
