This presentation aims to document how veterinarians in Brazil are expanding their scope beyond traditional boundaries, acting as frontline defenders against emerging infectious diseases (EIDs), managing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) strategies in clinical settings, and contributing significantly to urban public health initiatives within the dense metropolitan area of São Paulo.

To capture the current state of veterinary practice in Brazil, a multi-stage descriptive study was conducted:

• Data Collection (São Paulo Metro Area): Surveys were administered to 300 practicing veterinarians across specialized fields: epidemiology, exotic animal medicine, public health inspection (Vigilância Sanitária), and advanced clinical practice.
• Institutional Review: Collaboration with the Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine of São Paulo State (CRMV-SP) facilitated access to current regulatory frameworks regarding veterinary licensing and scope of practice.
• Data Analysis: Quantitative data regarding employment trends and role diversification were analyzed using SPSS, focusing on the post-2015 expansion of public health integration in Brazil.

The research yielded three pivotal findings regarding the modern Brazilian veterinarian:

• Rise of Public Health Integration: 65% of respondents in São Paulo indicated active collaboration with municipal health departments during disease outbreaks (specifically referencing dengue, zika, and chikungunya vector control).
