Historically, ophthalmic care in Iraq has been concentrated in a few major teaching hospitals within Iraq Baghdad, often suffering from overcrowding and equipment shortages. The prevalence of eye diseases such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and trachoma remains high due to limited access to early screening and consistent treatment. The socioeconomic landscape of Iraq Baghdad presents unique challenges. While the upper-middle class has access to private healthcare, a significant portion of the population relies on public services that are often under-resourced. Furthermore, urbanization in Iraq Baghdad has led to lifestyle changes and environmental factors, including air pollution from industrial zones and traffic emissions within the city, which have been linked to increased rates of dry eye syndrome and other ocular surface diseases. This involves setting up five satellite clinics across different districts of Iraq Baghdad, ensuring that geographic barriers do not prevent citizens from seeing an Ophthalmologist. Second, the project seeks to modernize diagnostic and surgical capabilities. Moreover, early detection programs for diabetic retinopathy will help preserve vision among the growing population of diabetics in Iraq Baghdad, reducing long-term healthcare costs associated with total vision loss. Economically, restoring sight to individuals allows them to return to work and contribute more effectively to the economy of Iraq Baghdad. For children suffering from congenital cataracts or refractive errors, timely intervention by an Ophthalmologist ensures they can attend school and develop normally. Ultimately, this project represents a vital step toward rebuilding the healthcare infrastructure of Iraq Baghdad, ensuring that every citizen has the right to see clearly and live fully.
