This Purchase Order is issued by the Auckland Regional Environmental Research Institute (ARERI) to engage the services of a qualified Biologist, Dr. Margaret Tane-Wilson, for the provision of ecological assessment, biodiversity monitoring, and environmental impact analysis within the Auckland region of New Zealand. The Biologist shall perform all duties in accordance with the New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) guidelines, the Resource Management Act 1991, and the Auckland Unitary Plan. All fieldwork and laboratory analysis shall be conducted within the boundaries of New Zealand Auckland, with particular focus on the Waitematā Harbour estuary system and the Waitākere Ranges conservation area.

The Biologist engaged under this Purchase Order shall be responsible for the following deliverables and obligations within the New Zealand Auckland region:
- Conduct a minimum of 36 field sampling visits across designated sites in the Waitematā Harbour and Waitākere Ranges, ensuring compliance with the New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC) fieldwork permits.
- Perform all laboratory-based taxonomic identification and molecular analysis at an accredited facility within Auckland, New Zealand, and maintain a complete chain-of-custody record for all biological specimens.
- Prepare and submit a comprehensive Ecological Impact Report no later than 30 September 2025, detailing species diversity indices, population trends, and recommended conservation actions specific to the New Zealand Auckland environment.
- Attend all scheduled consultation meetings at the ARERI office in Auckland CBD and provide written progress updates on a fortnightly basis.
- Deliver one (1) half-day training workshop for ARERI field staff on best practices for native species monitoring in the New Zealand Auckland context, including kauri dieback awareness and protected species handling protocols.
- Ensure all work complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (New Zealand) and the Auckland Council's environmental compliance requirements.
- 4.1 This Purchase Order is governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from this Purchase Order shall be resolved in the District Court of Auckland, New Zealand.
- 4.2 The Biologist warrants that all services rendered under this Purchase Order shall be performed with the skill, care, and diligence expected of a qualified professional Biologist registered with the New Zealand Society for the Study of Evolution and the Royal Society Te Apārangi.
- 4.3 Payment shall be made within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt of a valid tax invoice from the Biologist. Late payments shall attract interest at the rate prescribed under the Interest on Debts Act 1977 (New Zealand).
- 4.4 The Biologist shall maintain professional indemnity insurance with a minimum cover of NZD $2,000,000 for the duration of this Purchase Order and shall provide a certificate of insurance upon request.
- 4.5 All data, reports, and intellectual property generated under this Purchase Order shall remain the sole property of ARERI. The Biologist shall not publish or disseminate any findings without prior written consent from the Buyer.
- 4.6 Either party may terminate this Purchase Order with fourteen (14) days' written notice. In the event of termination, the Biologist shall be compensated for all work completed and documented up to the date of termination.
- 4.7 The Biologist shall comply with all applicable New Zealand environmental legislation, including the Resource Management Act 1991, the Conservation Act 1987, and the Auckland Unitary Plan (2016, as amended).
- 4.8 All fieldwork conducted in New Zealand Auckland shall adhere to the Auckland Council's coastal and marine management rules, and the Biologist shall obtain any necessary resource consents prior to commencing sampling activities.
By signing below, both parties acknowledge and agree to the terms, conditions, and scope of work outlined in this Purchase Order for the engagement of the Biologist in New Zealand Auckland.
