This Purchase Order is issued for the procurement of professional services rendered by a qualified Biomedical Engineer to be deployed at the Zimbabwe Harare facility. The Biomedical Engineer engaged under this Purchase Order shall perform the following duties at the Zimbabwe Harare facility:

  • Conduct monthly preventive maintenance schedules on all biomedical devices including X-ray units, ultrasound machines, patient monitors, ventilators, defibrillators, and laboratory analyzers.
  • Perform calibration and verification of all measurement instruments in compliance with ISO 13485 and IEC 62353 standards applicable in Zimbabwe.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns within four (4) business hours during standard working hours and within two (2) hours during on-call periods.
  • Maintain a comprehensive asset register of all biomedical equipment located in Zimbabwe Harare, including serial numbers, installation dates, warranty status, and service history.
  • Prepare quarterly performance reports for the Hospital Board detailing equipment uptime, failure rates, and recommended capital expenditure.
  • Ensure all biomedical devices meet the regulatory requirements of the Zimbabwe National Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (ZIMRA-MDA).
  • Provide technical guidance to clinical staff on the proper use and handling of biomedical equipment to minimize user-induced damage.
  1. Delivery / Commencement: The Biomedical Engineer shall commence duties at the Zimbabwe Harare facility no later than 1 July 2025. All equipment and tools required for the role shall be brought to site by the supplier within the first week of engagement.
  2. Payment Terms: Payment shall be made in monthly installments within thirty (30) days of receipt of a valid invoice. The first payment shall be due upon successful onboarding and site assessment by the Biomedical Engineer.
  3. Contract Duration: This Purchase Order covers a period of twelve (12) months from the date of commencement, renewable by mutual written agreement of both parties.
  4. Quality Assurance: The Biomedical Engineer shall hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline, registered with the Engineering Institute of Zimbabwe (EIZ), and possess a valid professional practice certificate. A minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience in hospital biomedical engineering is required.
  5. Insurance and Liability: The supplier shall maintain professional indemnity insurance with a minimum cover of USD 500,000 for the duration of this Purchase Order. All work performed by the Biomedical Engineer in Zimbabwe Harare shall be covered under this policy.
  6. Confidentiality: The Biomedical Engineer shall treat all patient data, hospital operational information, and proprietary equipment specifications as strictly confidential in accordance with the Zimbabwe Data Protection Act (Chapter 24:08).
  7. Termination: Either party may terminate this Purchase Order with thirty (30) days written notice. In the event of termination, the Biomedical Engineer shall complete all outstanding maintenance tasks and hand over all documentation and records to the purchasing entity.
  8. Governing Law: This Purchase Order shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in Zimbabwe Harare in accordance with the Arbitration Act (Chapter 7:15).
  9. Compliance: The Biomedical Engineer shall comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, including those issued by the Zimbabwe Occupational Safety and Health Authority (ZOSHA), while performing duties at the Zimbabwe Harare site.
