The Buyer hereby issues this Purchase Order for the procurement of The Economist weekly news and analysis magazine, including digital and print editions, for institutional use at the offices of Berliner Wirtschaftsinstitut GmbH located in Germany Berlin. The subscription shall provide continuous access to all editorial content, including but not limited to global economic analysis, political commentary, business reporting, science and technology coverage, and the weekly "The World in Brief" section.

All print editions of The Economist shall be delivered to the Buyer's registered office at Friedrichstraße 142, 10117 Berlin, Germany, no later than 10:00 CET on the day of publication (Thursday). Digital access credentials for the institutional licence shall be provided electronically within five (5) business days of the effective date of this Purchase Order. The Supplier acknowledges that the Buyer operates within the jurisdiction of Germany Berlin and shall comply with all applicable German data protection regulations (DSGVO / GDPR) regarding the handling of subscriber information. Delivery shall be made via a certified international courier service with full tracking and proof of delivery to the Berlin address.

Payment for this Purchase Order shall be made via SEPA bank transfer to the Supplier's designated European account within thirty (30) calendar days of the invoice date. The Buyer's bank details for reference: IBAN DE89 3704 0044 0532 0130 00, BIC COBADEFFXXX (Commerzbank AG, Berlin). In the event of a dispute regarding the quality or completeness of The Economist publications or digital services, the Buyer reserves the right to withhold payment of the disputed portion until resolution. Late payments shall accrue interest at the statutory rate under § 288 BGB. All amounts are stated in Euro (EUR) and are inclusive of any applicable customs duties or import taxes levied within the territory of Germany.

  1. This Purchase Order becomes effective upon written acceptance by the Supplier, confirmed in writing (email or signed document) within ten (10) business days of issuance.
  2. The subscription to The Economist shall commence on 1 January 2026 and shall remain in force for a period of twelve (12) months, unless terminated earlier in accordance with the cancellation provisions below.
  3. Either party may terminate this agreement with a written notice of sixty (60) days prior to the end of the subscription period. Termination shall be sent to the registered addresses listed in Section 2.
  4. The Supplier warrants that all copies of The Economist delivered to Berlin, Germany, shall be in pristine condition, free from damage, and shall correspond to the standard international edition.
  5. In the event of non-delivery or defective delivery of any issue, the Supplier shall provide a replacement within seven (7) business days at no additional cost to the Buyer.
  6. This Purchase Order is subject to the general terms and conditions of The Economist Group, provided that in the event of any conflict, the provisions of this document and applicable German law shall prevail.
  7. All disputes arising from this Purchase Order shall be resolved by the competent courts of Berlin, Germany. The parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Amtsgericht Berlin-Mitte or the Landgericht Berlin, as applicable.
  8. The Buyer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the The Economist publications or digital services.
  9. Any amendments to this Purchase Order must be made in writing and signed by authorized representatives of both parties to be valid.
  10. This document constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter herein and supersedes all prior negotiations, representations, or agreements relating to the purchase of The Economist for use in Germany Berlin.
Note: This Purchase Order is issued in compliance with the German Accounting Act (Handelsgesetzbuch), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR/DSGVO), and the applicable provisions of the German Tax Code (Abgabenordnung) regarding the documentation of commercial transactions. The Buyer confirms that the procurement of The Economist is for legitimate institutional and editorial research purposes within the offices located in Germany Berlin. The reverse charge mechanism for VAT applies as this constitutes an intra-EU supply of services.
