Terms and Conditions
  1. This Purchase Order is issued by Harare Business Publications Ltd., a registered entity in Zimbabwe, and governs the procurement of The Economist magazine subscriptions and related publications for use within the Harare, Zimbabwe operational footprint.
  2. All items listed in this Purchase Order shall be delivered to the designated warehouse address in Harare, Zimbabwe, no later than 21 July 2025. The supplier, Economist Group Distribution (Africa), acknowledges responsibility for all international shipping, customs clearance through ZIMRA (Zimbabwe Revenue Authority), and final-mile delivery within the Harare metropolitan area.
  3. Payment shall be made in United States Dollars (USD) within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt of a valid tax invoice from the supplier. The buyer reserves the right to withhold payment in the event of non-conforming goods or failure to meet the delivery schedule stipulated in this Purchase Order.
  4. The supplier warrants that all copies of The Economist magazine included in this order are genuine, undamaged, and in full compliance with Zimbabwean import regulations for printed media. Any counterfeit or damaged copies must be replaced at the supplier's sole expense within fourteen (14) days of written notice from the buyer.
  5. Intellectual property rights for all content published in The Economist remain the exclusive property of The Economist Group. This Purchase Order grants the buyer a non-transferable licence to distribute the physical and digital copies solely among its employees and authorised readers within its Harare, Zimbabwe offices.
  6. In the event of a force majeure event, including but not limited to port congestion at the Port of Beira, currency restrictions imposed by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, or national emergency declarations in Zimbabwe, either party may invoke a thirty (30) day extension without penalty. Written notice must be provided within five (5) business days of the triggering event.
  7. All disputes arising from this Purchase Order shall be resolved through arbitration in Harare, Zimbabwe, in accordance with the Arbitration Act [Chapter 24:18] of the Laws of Zimbabwe. The governing law of this document is the law of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
  8. This Purchase Order becomes binding upon signature by both parties. No amendment, modification, or cancellation of this order shall be valid unless executed in writing by an authorised representative of both Harare Business Publications Ltd. and Economist Group Distribution (Africa).
  9. The supplier shall provide a detailed packing list and commercial invoice prior to dispatch. All shipments must be clearly marked with the Purchase Order reference number PO-ZW-HRE-2025-04871 and the destination: Harare, Zimbabwe.
  10. Any late delivery beyond the agreed date of 21 July 2025 shall attract a penalty of 1.5% of the total order value per calendar day of delay, capped at 10% of the total order value. This penalty is in addition to any other remedies available to the buyer under Zimbabwean commercial law.
