This Purchase Order is issued by the Addis Ababa Research & Development Institute to formally engage the services of a qualified Physicist, Dr. Yohannes Bekele, for a period of six (6) months commencing 1 July 2025. The Physicist shall be responsible for leading the Advanced Particle Detection Laboratory project located at the AARDI campus in Ethiopia Addis Ababa. The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following:
- Design and supervision of a new particle detection apparatus for the AARDI Nuclear Physics Wing in Ethiopia Addis Ababa.
- Conducting experimental research in quantum field theory and high-energy physics, with results to be published in peer-reviewed international journals.
- Mentoring and training a team of eight (8) junior researchers and graduate students affiliated with the Addis Ababa University Physics Department.
- Preparing technical reports, grant proposals, and research documentation in accordance with the Ethiopian Ministry of Science and Higher Education guidelines.
- Attending and presenting findings at the Annual Ethiopian Physics Conference held in Ethiopia Addis Ababa, as well as at least two (2) international physics symposia.
- Collaborating with the Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute (ESSTI) on satellite-based radiation detection systems.

All amounts are denominated in Ethiopian Birr (ETB). Payment shall be processed through the National Bank of Ethiopia, AARDI Corporate Account No. 1001-4567-8901-2345.
Payment for the services rendered under this Purchase Order shall be made in three (3) equal installments: the first installment (33.33%) upon commencement of the engagement in July 2025; the second installment (33.33%) upon submission of the mid-term progress report in October 2025; and the final installment (33.34%) upon completion of the full six-month contract and delivery of the final research report in December 2025. All payments shall be processed within fifteen (15) business days of invoice submission to the AARDI Finance Office in Ethiopia Addis Ababa.
- This Purchase Order is governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Civil Code provisions on service contracts.
- The Physicist shall maintain full professional confidentiality regarding all proprietary research data, experimental methodologies, and institutional information obtained during the engagement in Ethiopia Addis Ababa.
- The Physicist shall comply with all safety regulations set by the Ethiopian Atomic Energy Commission and the AARDI laboratory safety protocols.
- Any modification to the scope of work defined in this Purchase Order must be approved in writing by both parties and documented as an amendment to this Purchase Order.
- The Physicist shall submit a detailed monthly activity report to the Head of the Advanced Physics Division by the 5th of each month.
- In the event of non-performance or breach of contract, AARDI reserves the right to terminate this Purchase Order with thirty (30) days written notice, subject to Ethiopian labor and contract law.
- All intellectual property generated during the course of this engagement shall be jointly owned by AARDI and the Physicist, with publication rights shared equally.
- This Purchase Order does not constitute an employment relationship. The Physicist is engaged as an independent professional consultant.
All services under this Purchase Order shall be performed at the AARDI campus, Bole Road, Ethiopia Addis Ababa, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The Physicist is expected to be present at the laboratory a minimum of five (5) days per week during the engagement period. Remote work from any location within Ethiopia Addis Ababa may be permitted for up to one (1) day per week with prior written approval from the supervising department head.
