This Purchase Order is issued by the Auckland Regional Education Authority for the procurement of a qualified Special Education Teacher to be deployed across designated primary and intermediate schools within the New Zealand Auckland region. The role is to be based in the Auckland metropolitan area, with the primary workplace located at the Ponsonby Education Hub, and secondary placements at schools in the North Shore, Manukau, and Waitakere Ranges sub-regions of New Zealand Auckland.

- Compliance with New Zealand Legislation: This Purchase Order and the resulting employment arrangement shall comply with the Education Act 1989 (New Zealand), the Employment Relations Act 2000, the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and the Human Rights Act 1993. All obligations specific to the New Zealand Auckland region, including local council by-laws and Auckland Council education zoning requirements, shall be observed.
- Code of Conduct: The Special Education Teacher shall adhere to the New Zealand Teaching Council Code of Professional Conduct and the specific code of conduct established by the Auckland Regional Education Authority for all personnel operating within New Zealand Auckland schools.
- Child Protection: The Special Education Teacher must hold a current Vulnerable Workers Registration (VWR) and a clear New Zealand Police Vetting certificate prior to commencing duties. Any breach of child protection protocols within the New Zealand Auckland school environment shall result in immediate termination of this Purchase Order.
- Performance Standards: The Special Education Teacher shall deliver a minimum of 28 hours of direct student instruction per week, conduct bi-weekly Individual Education Plan (IEP) reviews, and submit monthly progress reports to the Auckland Regional Education Authority.
- Termination: Either party may terminate this Purchase Order with 28 days' written notice. The Auckland Regional Education Authority reserves the right to terminate immediately for cause, including but not limited to gross misconduct, failure to maintain required qualifications, or breach of New Zealand employment law.
- Dispute Resolution: Any disputes arising under this Purchase Order shall first be addressed through mediation in accordance with the Employment Relations Act 2000. If unresolved, disputes shall be referred to the Employment Court in Auckland, New Zealand.
- Confidentiality: All student records, assessment data, and personal information handled by the Special Education Teacher in New Zealand Auckland shall be treated in strict accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).
- Insurance: The supplier shall maintain public liability insurance of no less than NZD 10,000,000 and professional indemnity insurance of no less than NZD 5,000,000 for the duration of this Purchase Order.
The Special Education Teacher shall commence duties on or before 1 September 2025 at the designated school site in New Zealand Auckland. A pre-commencement orientation of two (2) days shall be conducted at the Ponsonby Education Hub, Auckland, covering local policies, Māori and Pasifika cultural responsiveness requirements, and the specific needs of the student cohort in the New Zealand Auckland region.
