Payment for this Purchase Order shall be made in Canadian Dollars (CAD) via electronic funds transfer (EFT) to the account designated by the University Lecturer. The total Purchase Order amount of $91,400.00 CAD shall be disbursed as follows:

  1. Initial Payment (40%): $36,560.00 CAD, payable within 15 business days of the commencement date (September 2, 2025), upon receipt of a signed acknowledgment of this Purchase Order by the University Lecturer.
  2. Mid-Term Payment (30%): $27,420.00 CAD, payable by January 15, 2026, contingent upon satisfactory completion of the first teaching block and submission of mid-term course evaluations.
  3. Final Payment (30%): $27,420.00 CAD, payable within 30 days of the term's conclusion (April 30, 2026), upon receipt of final course materials, thesis supervision reports, and a completed service summary.

All payments are subject to applicable Canadian federal and provincial tax withholdings as mandated by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The University Lecturer shall provide a valid T4A or equivalent tax documentation prior to the first disbursement.

  1. Scope of Engagement: The University Lecturer agrees to fulfill all academic duties as specified in this Purchase Order, including but not limited to lecturing, examination setting, grading, and student advising, in accordance with the academic standards of the University of British Columbia in Canada Vancouver.
  2. Qualifications: The University Lecturer warrants possession of a Doctorate in English Literature or a related discipline, a minimum of five (5) years of post-secondary teaching experience, and a valid teaching permit or eligibility to work in Canada as per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) regulations.
  3. Intellectual Property: All course materials, syllabi, examination papers, and curriculum documents created specifically for this Purchase Order engagement shall become the property of the University of British Columbia. Pre-existing works of the University Lecturer remain the property of the lecturer.
  4. Confidentiality: The University Lecturer shall maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records, unpublished research, and internal university communications in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) of British Columbia.
  5. Termination: Either party may terminate this Purchase Order with thirty (30) days written notice. In the event of termination for cause, the University Lecturer shall be compensated for all services rendered up to the date of termination, less any damages incurred by the institution.
  6. Governing Law: This Purchase Order shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada. Any disputes arising from this Purchase Order shall be resolved through arbitration in Canada Vancouver, in accordance with the Arbitration Act of British Columbia.
  7. Insurance: The University Lecturer shall maintain professional liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $2,000,000 CAD throughout the duration of this Purchase Order.
  8. Compliance: The University Lecturer shall comply with all institutional policies of the University of British Columbia, including the Code of Conduct, Academic Integrity Policy, and Workplace Health and Safety regulations applicable in Canada Vancouver.

By signing below, both parties acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to all terms and conditions set forth in this Purchase Order. This Purchase Order becomes effective upon the execution of signatures by both the authorized representative of the University of British Columbia and the University Lecturer.
