5.1 Commencement and Duration: The University Lecturer shall commence duties on August 25, 2025, at the University of Houston main campus located in Houston, Texas, United States. The engagement period shall span the full 2025–2026 academic year, concluding on May 15, 2026, unless extended by mutual written agreement.
5.2 Payment Terms: Payment for the University Lecturer services shall be processed on a bi-weekly basis via direct deposit to the designated bank account, in accordance with the University of Houston payroll schedule. The first payment cycle shall commence on September 5, 2025. All payments are subject to standard federal and Texas state tax withholdings as required by the Internal Revenue Service and the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
5.3 Performance Standards: The University Lecturer is expected to maintain a minimum student evaluation score of 4.0 out of 5.0 across all assigned courses. Failure to meet this standard for two consecutive evaluation periods may result in a formal performance review and potential termination of this Purchase Order in accordance with University of Houston faculty policy.
5.4 Intellectual Property: All research outputs, publications, and course materials developed by the University Lecturer during the term of this Purchase Order while utilizing University of Houston resources in Houston, Texas, shall be subject to the institution's intellectual property agreement, executed separately at the time of onboarding.
5.5 Termination: Either party may terminate this Purchase Order with thirty (30) days written notice. In the event of termination, the University of Houston shall compensate the University Lecturer for all services rendered up to the effective date of termination, less any applicable deductions.
5.6 Governing Law: This Purchase Order shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, and the federal laws of the United States of America. Any disputes arising under this Purchase Order shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Harris County, Houston, Texas.
5.7 Compliance: The University Lecturer shall comply with all applicable federal regulations, Texas state education statutes, and University of Houston institutional policies, including but not limited to Title IX, ADA accommodations, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board standards.
The University Lecturer shall submit a written progress report to the Department Chair no later than the end of each semester. Additionally, a comprehensive annual performance summary shall be delivered to the Office of Academic Affairs in Houston, United States, by June 30, 2026. All course syllabi, grading records, and attendance logs must be uploaded to the University of Houston Learning Management System (LMS) within five (5) business days of each assessment period.
