This Quotation Estimate is formally submitted by Stellar Sciences & Research Consultancy Ltd. in response to the request for professional Astronomer services to be deployed and executed within the city of Ghana Accra. The purpose of this document is to provide a comprehensive, itemized breakdown of all costs, deliverables, timelines, and professional obligations associated with the engagement of a senior Astronomer to support research, educational outreach, and observational astronomy programmes in Ghana Accra.
The Astronomer engaged under this Quotation Estimate will operate primarily from the Legon Campus in Ghana Accra, with periodic field observations at the Aburi Botanical Gardens observatory site and the Cape Coast coastal monitoring station. All services outlined in this Quotation Estimate are tailored specifically to the astronomical conditions, academic infrastructure, and research priorities of Ghana Accra.
The Astronomer will deliver the following services throughout the project period in Ghana Accra:
- Observational Astronomy Programmes: Conducting nightly celestial observations using the 400mm refractor telescope and the 200mm Newtonian reflector telescope housed at the Ghana Accra campus observatory. The Astronomer will document stellar magnitudes, planetary transits, and variable star photometry specific to the equatorial viewing conditions of Ghana Accra.
- Academic Lectures and Seminars: Delivering a minimum of 24 lecture sessions per academic year to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Physics & Astronomy. The Astronomer will cover topics including celestial mechanics, astrophysics, cosmology, and the unique observational advantages of the Ghana Accra latitude (approximately 5.5°N).
- Research Supervision: Supervising a minimum of six (6) postgraduate research students working on projects related to the Milky Way structure, exoplanet detection, and solar-terrestrial physics as observed from Ghana Accra.
- Public Outreach and Science Communication: Organising and leading quarterly public stargazing events at the Accra Botanical Gardens and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. The Astronomer will also coordinate an annual Astronomy Week in Ghana Accra in partnership with the Ghana Science Association.
- Instrument Calibration and Maintenance: Performing bi-weekly calibration of all optical and electronic instruments at the Ghana Accra observatory, including CCD camera alignment, spectrograph wavelength calibration, and atmospheric seeing measurements.
- Data Analysis and Publication: Processing and analysing observational data collected in Ghana Accra, producing a minimum of four (4) peer-reviewed journal articles per year, and maintaining an open-access data repository for the West African astronomical community.
- Curriculum Development: Reviewing and updating the undergraduate astronomy curriculum to reflect current research trends, ensuring the Astronomer expertise is embedded in the academic framework of Ghana Accra.

* All costs are quoted in Ghana Cedis (GHS). Exchange rate reference: 1 USD ≈ 15.50 GHS as at the date of this Quotation Estimate. Final settlement will be converted at the Bank of Ghana mid-market rate on the date of payment.
This Quotation Estimate for Astronomer services in Ghana Accra shall be settled according to the following schedule:
- 30% Advance Payment: Due within 14 days of acceptance of this Quotation Estimate, prior to the Astronomer commencing work in Ghana Accra.
- 40% Mid-Project Payment: Due at the completion of month six (December 2025), subject to satisfactory progress review by the Astronomer and the client.
- 30% Final Payment: Due within 30 days of project completion (June 2026), upon submission of the final report, all publications, and the complete observational dataset collected in Ghana Accra.
All payments shall be made via bank transfer to the account of Stellar Sciences & Research Consultancy Ltd., domiciled at the Bank of Ghana, Accra branch. Late payments shall attract a penalty of 2% per month as stipulated under Ghanaian commercial law.
5.1 This Quotation Estimate is valid for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of issue. Beyond this period, all costs associated with the Astronomer engagement in Ghana Accra are subject to revision based on prevailing economic conditions.
5.2 The Astronomer shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the Republic of Ghana, including the Ghana National Science, Research and Innovation Policy, and the data protection provisions of the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
5.3 All intellectual property generated by the Astronomer during the course of this engagement in Ghana Accra shall be jointly owned by the client and the consulting firm, with full attribution to the Astronomer as principal investigator.
5.4 The client agrees to provide the Astronomer with full access to the observatory facilities, laboratory spaces, and administrative support at the Ghana Accra campus throughout the project duration.
5.5 Either party may terminate this engagement with a written notice of sixty (60) days. In the event of early termination, the Astronomer shall be compensated for all services rendered up to the date of termination, as detailed in this Quotation Estimate.
5.6 Disputes arising from this Quotation Estimate shall be resolved through mediation in Ghana Accra in accordance with the Arbitration Act, 2023 (Act 1036) of Ghana.
By signing below, both parties acknowledge and accept the terms, conditions, and cost structure set forth in this Quotation Estimate for the engagement of a professional Astronomer in Ghana Accra.
