This Quotation Estimate is formally submitted by Stellar Horizons Research & Consulting Ltd. to the University of Nairobi, Kenya Nairobi, in response to the request for a qualified Astronomer to provide specialized research, teaching, and observational support services. This document outlines the full scope of work, itemized costs, delivery timelines, and contractual terms governing the engagement of the Astronomer in the Kenya Nairobi region. All figures presented in this Quotation Estimate are inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated, and are denominated in Kenyan Shillings (KES).
The Astronomer engaged under this Quotation Estimate shall perform the following duties within the Kenya Nairobi metropolitan area and its surrounding observatory sites:
- Research Supervision: The Astronomer shall supervise a minimum of six (6) postgraduate research students working on topics in stellar astrophysics, exoplanet detection, and radio astronomy at the University of Nairobi campus in Kenya Nairobi.
- Teaching and Lecturing: Delivery of two (2) undergraduate courses per semester (AST 301: Observational Astronomy and AST 405: Cosmology) at the Kenya Nairobi campus, totaling 120 contact hours per academic year.
- Observatory Operations: Management and operation of the 600mm reflector telescope at the Kenya Nairobi observatory site, including scheduling, data acquisition, and instrument calibration for a minimum of 40 clear nights per year.
- Public Outreach: Organization and facilitation of four (4) public stargazing events per year in open spaces around Kenya Nairobi, targeting schools, community groups, and the general public to promote astronomical literacy.
- Grant Writing and Collaboration: Assistance in preparing at least two (2) international research grant proposals and maintaining collaborative links with observatories in South Africa, Ethiopia, and the United Kingdom.
- Equipment Advisory: Provision of technical advisory services regarding the procurement, installation, and maintenance of astronomical instruments for the Kenya Nairobi facility.

Payment against this Quotation Estimate shall be made in quarterly installments as follows:
- First installment (25%): Due within 14 days of contract signing and commencement of the Astronomer's duties in Kenya Nairobi.
- Second installment (25%): Due at the end of the third month of the engagement.
- Third installment (25%): Due at the end of the sixth month.
- Fourth installment (25%): Due at the end of the twelfth month, subject to satisfactory completion of all deliverables outlined in this Quotation Estimate.
All payments shall be made via bank transfer to the account of Stellar Horizons Research & Consulting Ltd., Equity Bank, Kenya Nairobi branch. Late payments shall attract a penalty of 2% per month on the outstanding balance.
- This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. Beyond this period, prices may be revised to reflect changes in the Kenyan Shilling exchange rate or inflation adjustments.
- The Astronomer shall be required to maintain professional indemnity insurance with a minimum cover of KES 10,000,000 throughout the engagement period in Kenya Nairobi.
- All data, publications, and intellectual property generated by the Astronomer during the course of this engagement shall be jointly owned by Stellar Horizons Research & Consulting Ltd. and the University of Nairobi, Kenya Nairobi, as stipulated in a separate Intellectual Property Agreement.
- Either party may terminate this engagement with a written notice of sixty (60) days. In the event of early termination, the Astronomer shall be compensated for all services rendered up to the termination date.
- This Quotation Estimate does not constitute a binding contract until both parties have executed the formal Service Agreement. The terms herein are indicative and subject to final negotiation.
- All services shall be performed in compliance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya, including the Kenya Universities and Colleges Senates Act and relevant tax regulations administered by the Kenya Revenue Authority.
By signing below, the parties acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to the terms set forth in this Quotation Estimate for the engagement of the Astronomer in Kenya Nairobi.
