This Quotation Estimate has been prepared by Stellar Horizon Research & Consulting Ltd. to provide a comprehensive and transparent breakdown of professional Astronomer services to be delivered in New Zealand Auckland and its surrounding regions. The purpose of this document is to outline the scope of work, associated costs, timelines, and terms governing the engagement of our senior Astronomer team for the proposed research and observational programme. All pricing within this Quotation Estimate is quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and includes applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the current rate of 15%.

The following services are included in this Quotation Estimate for the engagement of a qualified Astronomer based in New Zealand Auckland:

  • Deep-Sky Observation Programme: A minimum of twelve (12) nights of dedicated observational work using the 1.2-metre research telescope located at the Auckland Observatory Site, Mount Eden. The Astronomer will conduct photometric and spectroscopic surveys of southern hemisphere targets, including variable stars, nebulae, and distant galaxy clusters.
  • Astrometric Data Analysis: Processing and reduction of raw observational data using standard pipelines (IRAF, Astropy, and custom Python scripts). The Astronomer will deliver calibrated datasets, uncertainty analyses, and preliminary scientific interpretations.
  • Public Outreach and Education: Three (3) public stargazing events to be hosted at the Auckland Domain Observatory, with the Astronomer providing guided tours, live telescope demonstrations, and educational presentations for school groups and the general public in New Zealand Auckland.
  • Consultation and Reporting: Weekly progress meetings (in-person or virtual), a mid-term technical report, and a final comprehensive research report of no fewer than forty (40) pages, including figures, data tables, and recommendations for future observational campaigns.
  • Equipment Calibration and Maintenance: Scheduled maintenance of the primary optical system, CCD/CMOS sensor calibration, and atmospheric monitoring equipment at the Auckland site.

The engagement of the Astronomer in New Zealand Auckland is scheduled to commence on 1 August 2025 and conclude on 30 November 2025, spanning a total of sixteen (16) weeks. The observational nights will be scheduled during the optimal dark-sky windows, typically between 22:00 and 05:00 NZST, with weather-dependent rescheduling at no additional cost to the client.

  1. This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. After the expiry date, all rates and availability of the Astronomer are subject to reconfirmation.
  2. Payment terms: 30% deposit due upon acceptance of this Quotation Estimate; 40% due at the mid-term report milestone; 30% balance due upon delivery of the final report and all data sets.
  3. All work performed by the Astronomer in New Zealand Auckland shall comply with the New Zealand Research Ethics Committee (NZREC) guidelines and the Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) regulations where applicable.
  4. Intellectual property: All raw and processed observational data shall be jointly owned by the client and Stellar Horizon Research & Consulting Ltd. unless otherwise agreed in a separate IP agreement.
  5. Force Majeure: In the event of adverse weather, equipment failure, or any event beyond reasonable control, the Astronomer reserves the right to reschedule affected sessions without penalty to either party.
  6. This Quotation Estimate does not constitute a binding contract until signed and countersigned by both parties. A formal Service Agreement will be executed upon acceptance.
  7. Any variations to the scope of work must be agreed in writing and may result in an amended Quotation Estimate.

By signing below, the client acknowledges and accepts the terms, conditions, and pricing set out in this Quotation Estimate for the engagement of the Astronomer services in New Zealand Auckland.
