• Conduct a minimum of 120 hours of observational support at the 1.9-metre SALT telescope and the MeerKAT radio array, providing real-time Astronomer guidance during scheduled observation windows.
• Develop and calibrate data reduction pipelines for photometric and spectroscopic datasets collected during the engagement period.
• Deliver four (4) peer-reviewed research papers co-authored with the client's research team, focusing on variable star behaviour in the southern sky.
• Provide two (2) public outreach lectures per month at the South African Astronomical Observatory in South Africa Cape Town, targeting school groups and the general public.
• Supervise a cohort of six (6) postgraduate students in their thesis research, offering weekly one-on-one mentoring sessions.

Payment for the services outlined in this Quotation Estimate shall be made in three (3) equal instalments of R 269,253.33 (inclusive of VAT), due on the following schedule: (i) 30% upon execution of the service agreement; (ii) 40% upon completion of month six (6) of the engagement; and (iii) 30% upon delivery of the final annual report. Late payments shall attract interest at the rate of 2% per month in accordance with the Late Payment of Invoice Interest Act 4 of 2011 (South Africa).

1. This Quotation Estimate is valid for thirty (30) calendar days from the date of issue. Thereafter, pricing may be revised to reflect changes in market conditions in South Africa Cape Town.
2. The Astronomer engaged shall be an independent contractor and not an employee of the client. All professional indemnity insurance shall be maintained by the Astronomer at a minimum cover of R 5,000,000.
3. All intellectual property generated during the engagement shall be jointly owned by the Astronomer and the client, as stipulated in the separate Intellectual Property Agreement to be executed concurrently.
4. The Astronomer shall comply with all applicable South African legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the National Research Act, when handling data collected in South Africa Cape Town.
5. Either party may terminate this engagement with thirty (30) days' written notice. In the event of early termination, the client shall be liable for all services rendered up to the date of termination.
6. All disputes arising from this Quotation Estimate shall be resolved through arbitration in Cape Town, South Africa, in accordance with the rules of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA).
7. This Quotation Estimate does not constitute a binding contract until both parties have signed and returned the acceptance section below.
