The following masonry services have been scoped based on the site inspection conducted on June 5, 2025, at the client's property in Houston, United States. 2.1 Residential Masonry Wall Construction
Construction of a 42-foot linear, 8-foot-high CMU (Concrete Masonry Unit) retaining wall along the rear property boundary. The wall will incorporate a 12-inch gravel drainage base, geotextile fabric, and a 4-inch weep hole system at 4-foot intervals. The Mason crew will lay 8-inch x 8-inch x 16-inch CMU blocks using Type S masonry mortar (1:3 cement-to-sand ratio) with vertical and horizontal reinforcement at 4-foot on-center spacing.
2.2 Natural Stone Accent Wall
Installation of a 18-foot by 9-foot natural limestone accent wall on the south-facing exterior of the main residence. The Mason will prepare the substrate, apply a polymer-modified thin-set adhesive, and set 2-inch-thick Texas limestone slabs in a running bond pattern. All joints will be finished with a color-matched sanded grout. A penetrating stone sealer will be applied after a 72-hour cure period.
2.3 Masonry Chimney Repair and Cap Replacement
Full tuckpointing of the existing 14-foot brick chimney, removal and replacement of the deteriorated clay chimney cap with a new galvanized steel cap featuring a 3-inch rain collar, and installation of a stainless steel chimney crown. The Mason will also replace 22 damaged firebrick units in the flue lining and apply a high-temperature refractory mortar to all new joints.
2.4 Masonry Walkway and Entry Steps
Construction of a 6-foot-wide, 35-foot-long brick walkway from the driveway to the front entrance, including four (4) masonry entry steps. The Mason will lay 4-inch x 8-inch x 16-inch clay face bricks in a herringbone pattern over a 4-inch compacted crushed limestone base with a 1-inch sand setting bed. All edges will be finished with a 6-inch brick border.
