| Project Title | Coastal Water Quality & Marine Ecosystem Assessment — Incheon Bay to Seoul Han River Estuary |
This Quotation Estimate is formally issued to provide a comprehensive, itemized financial breakdown for the engagement of a senior Oceanographer and supporting technical team to conduct marine and coastal research operations in and around South Korea Seoul and its adjacent waterways. The scope of work has been developed in direct response to the client's request for an independent assessment of water quality, sediment composition, and marine biodiversity across the Han River estuary, Incheon Bay, and the broader Yellow Sea littoral zone that borders the Seoul metropolitan region.
All pricing, deliverables, and timelines contained within this Quotation Estimate are specific to the operational conditions, regulatory environment, and logistical requirements unique to South Korea Seoul and its surrounding coastal infrastructure. The Oceanographer services described herein comply with the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) guidelines, the Seoul Metropolitan Government environmental permitting framework, and international marine research standards.
The Oceanographer and the accompanying field team will perform the following activities within the South Korea Seoul metropolitan and coastal zone:
- Hydrographic Surveying: Conduct bathymetric and current-velocity profiling along 42 km of the Han River estuary and 18 km of Incheon Bay shoreline using multibeam sonar and ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) instruments deployed from licensed research vessels operating out of the Seoul National Maritime Research Dock.
- Water Quality Monitoring: Collect and analyze 320 discrete water samples at 40 designated stations for parameters including dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, turbidity, heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Hg, As), nutrient loads (nitrate, phosphate, silicate), and microplastic concentration. All sampling will follow the Korean Environmental Standards Act (K-ES) protocols.
- Sediment Core Extraction: Retrieve and catalog 60 sediment cores (0–5 m depth) from the estuarine and nearshore zones to assess historical pollutant deposition and benthic ecosystem health.
- Marine Biodiversity Census: Perform qualitative and quantitative surveys of benthic macroinvertebrates, intertidal algal communities, and pelagic fish assemblages in coordination with the Seoul National University Marine Biology Laboratory.
- Climate and Sea-Level Impact Modeling: Develop a 20-year projection model for sea-level rise, storm-surge frequency, and coastal erosion risk specific to the Seoul metropolitan coastline, incorporating data from the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and the Seoul Smart City sensor network.
- Reporting and Stakeholder Briefings: Deliver a 200-page technical report in both English and Korean, followed by three on-site presentation sessions for Seoul city council members, MOF regional directors, and the public at the Seoul Science Museum auditorium.
