1. Purpose of This Quotation Estimate

This Quotation Estimate document is issued in formal response to the request for a comprehensive cost breakdown and professional engagement terms for the recruitment, onboarding, and annual compensation of a University Lecturer to be appointed at a leading academic institution in Japan Tokyo. The scope of this Quotation Estimate covers all financial, logistical, and administrative components associated with securing a qualified University Lecturer for the 2025–2026 academic year. 2. Scope of Services — University Lecturer Role

The University Lecturer position described in this Quotation Estimate entails the following core responsibilities:

4. Payment Schedule

Payment for the University Lecturer engagement shall be processed in accordance with the following schedule, as stipulated in this Quotation Estimate:

  • Base Salary: Disbursed monthly in arrears on the 25th of each month via direct bank transfer to the University Lecturer's designated account in Japan Tokyo.
  • Relocation & Resettlement Package: Paid in a single lump sum within fourteen (14) calendar days of the University Lecturer's confirmed arrival in Japan Tokyo.
  • Housing Subsidy: Disbursed quarterly in advance (January, April, July, October).
  • Research Allowance & Professional Development: Disbursed semi-annually (October and April) upon submission of a brief activity report.
  • Performance Bonus: Paid in March of each fiscal year, contingent upon satisfactory completion of the annual performance review cycle.

5. Assumptions & Exclusions

This Quotation Estimate is based on the following assumptions: the University Lecturer candidate holds a PhD in a relevant discipline; the candidate is eligible for a work visa under Japanese immigration law; and the appointment is for a minimum three-year tenure-track period. This estimate does not include costs associated with laboratory equipment procurement, student tuition waivers, or capital expenditure on departmental infrastructure. All tax obligations in Japan Tokyo are the responsibility of the University Lecturer, with employer withholding applied as per the National Tax Agency of Japan guidelines.

6. Validity & Acceptance

This Quotation Estimate remains valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue. Should the University of Tokyo wish to proceed with the engagement of the University Lecturer as outlined herein, a formal acceptance letter must be returned to the undersigned within the validity period. Any modifications to the scope, compensation structure, or terms must be documented in a written addendum to this Quotation Estimate and signed by both parties before implementation.

7. Terms & Conditions

  1. This Quotation Estimate constitutes a non-binding proposal until formally accepted in writing by the authorized representative of the University of Tokyo.
  2. All monetary values are quoted in Japanese Yen (JPY) with approximate US Dollar (USD) equivalents provided for reference only. The JPY amount shall prevail in the event of any discrepancy.
  3. The University Lecturer is expected to comply with all institutional policies, Japanese labour regulations, and the specific terms of the employment contract issued upon acceptance of this Quotation Estimate.
  4. Early termination of the University Lecturer engagement prior to the completion of the three-year tenure-track period may be subject to a pro-rata repayment of the relocation and resettlement package, as detailed in the employment contract.
  5. Disputes arising from this Quotation Estimate or the subsequent employment arrangement shall be governed by the laws of Japan and adjudicated in the competent courts of Tokyo, Japan.
  6. This Quotation Estimate does not constitute a guarantee of employment. Final appointment is subject to successful completion of the university's internal hiring and vetting procedures.
